For the Opera house AU, consider… They do The Princess Bride, starring; -Sun as Buttercup -Sky as Wesley/The Dread Pirate Roberts -Groose as Prince Humperdink -Wars as Inigo Montoya -Daruk as Fezzik -Four as Vizzini -Dusk as Count Reugen

One of my first thoughts upon seeing this was that The Princess Bride would make for a tricky stage play, being as it's literally a movie made of "the part you want to write" with none of the in-between stuff needed to make it something you can keep track of, especially in a theatre where it's all a bit overwhelming to begin with.

That in mind, allow me to make a singular edit!

Grandpa Smith: Narrator

Wind: Sick Kid

Throughout the play, there is a part of the stage, maybe a corner, maybe set right in the center of it all, that's made to look like a bedroom. there's a bed, a chair and a backdrop wall at the very least (all relatively small, which gives comedic weight when Grandpa Smith tries to squeeze in and sit on the tiny chair). The characters and story move around this, unawares, but every so often, when Fred Savage's character would have an outburst in the movie, all the other actors freeze, the lights all coming on or going off, drawing attention to the "bedroom" so four and Grandpa can interact.

This lets Grandpa Smith narrate away any of the "boring parts" and preserves the comedic factor that those bits add to the film!

As for the stage play itself though, it's a good casting you have there!, although I think I'd change Daruk (who inspired respect in his appearance) and actually sub in either a random extra, or somebody else who can pull off the role right. I just can't see Daruk falling in as Fezzik, y'know?

Warriors as Inigo though! Oh he had FUN with that! He's not the main character, but gets to have witty back and forth, do a lot of combat scenes, and whomever does end up playing Fezzik, well, he'd establish some great repartee with them!

(Maybe Twi plays Fezzik? It's not about the height, it's about the strength, even if short, tall, and medium is it's own sort of comedic and it'd be sad to lose :/)

Groose I'm not sure about, because while I 100% get why you cast him, I don't know if he properly portrays the pathetic qualities of Humperdink, who's no good in an actual fight, an utter coward, and has to rely on Rugan for almost everything when he wants something done, that is, if his words alone can't get it for him. I'm thinking maybe Ravio? He can puff himself up and whatnot, but he can also play up the more Farquad like tendencies of the prince, making it believable in both directions. he's quite versatile, and can actually manage the scenes where Humperdink and buttercup interact, though rehearsal would definitely see him breaking character a LOT the first few times because he finds it so funny to pretend he's like that (and Sun was definitely giggling too)

Now, at first, I misread it and thought you didn't cast Rugan, but then I checked over again and you did. I ALMOST added Time in the role, but the thought of Dusk doing it instead.....dang.

She has the countenance, the poise. The cold, tactical edge on stage needed to sell the role, but the thought of her and Wars in that ending fight, harried, bloody and screaming, well, that'd really play with her range! And this means she gets to swordfight!

At first the crew thinks they're screwed because they need a good fighter for the role and Time can't do it because he's directing the darn thing, but then Duks just....manages. She's not better than the boys by any means, but she's not struggling to keep pace either. the sword fight between Wesley ad Inigo is iconic but Dusk v. Warriors is the one that really gets talked about behind scenes because eeryone's already seen Sky and Wars duke it out on stage, this is new!

I think it;d initially throw the audience off that they cast a woman in the role, but after a while, they can't see why that wasn't done before, because she slays! The role is Dusk and Dusk is the role.

Now for my actual additions though! Through some extreme makeup work, Wild and Flora play Max and Valerie. They are having the times of their lives with it, and half of the lines (in true Billy Cyrstal fashion) are actually ad-libbed, making poor Warriors and twilight struggle so hard to keep straight faces every time (Sky is dying, his character is supposed to be dead but he is actually dying trying to stay still and not so much as snort, which is pretty fair because in the film, Cary Elwes had to be kicked off set because he wouldn't stop laughing all the time). They manage, somehow.

Flora generally doesn't care for acting, but learns she has a passion for the role of "crone" and is all but begging Lullaby by the end to let her take it again if they ever have similar roles come up, because it's the first time she's had fun while ON stage.

I don't have much to say on Sky and Sun otherwise though, since I can see them paying their parts really well, and thoroughly enjoying the costumes and chances to play into their respective talents (Sky with fighting, Sun with pushing him around a bit (LOL I JUST remembered that a key part of their story ALSO involves her pushing him off of something!))

Last, but far from least, the R.O.U.S. puppeteers are actually Legend and Ravio! They don't do much on stage, but they were MENACES behind the scenes, running around in full rat get up and just randomly charging at people and making them start (Wind has so much video footage of that)

since i love same coin theory but get why folks dislike it, sometimes i muse on what makes a person and how souls and reincarnations are portrayed in media

sometimes souls are depicted as the entirety of what makes someone, sometimes its just an aspect that you can live without, and the amount of variation of how much a previous incarnation has an impact on the current self ranging from 'you're literally your past self' or the more horrifying 'your previous incarnation's memories can take over and sublimate the current self completely' to literally no impact

and then i think about how you see stan and ford change drastically over their single lifetime (eg just the sheer difference between their teen+adult+old man selves) and how amnesiac!stan is him at his core but everyone agreeing that it's not him at the same time

there's also the question of how reincarnation works in the gf universe in the first place, with the axolotl's domain being different from the 'reincarnation processing center', and how invoking + making a deal with the axolotl is described as a rare rule of the universe to 'live again', which just turned out to be reincarnation with conditions, but what exactly causes reincarnation/soulmates in a normal situation anyway.....

but in the end, the first thing my brain sprouts out when trying to explain my take on reincarnation is "kagome is not kikyo!!!!" despite only reading like 20 chapters of inuyasha and then stopping forever

I need to talk about Minecraft AU for a sec and how the difference between our world and their world makes for some of the most humorous but also interesting differences in how people act about certain subjects.

Like the trans thing right. Steve and Rana are both trans I've talked about that before. And neither of them are on hormone replacement or anything (there is an in universe explanation as to why Steve has a beard though I promise I can talk about that if anyone wants) but like that's fine bc it literally Doesn't Matter to them or anyone else. Like as spawned players they already don't have any pre-existing gender roles or ideas of what something "should" be so gender and presentation is what they make of it and there's no real solid idea in anyone's mind about how a "boy" or "girl" behaves or looks like. These are labels that exist but they barely mean anything. It also helps that any preexisting culture that WOULD have ideas of this was almost entirely destroyed like 5000 years ago (thanks Groda) so it matters even less than it already did.

And its funny bc the only two people alive from that era, White Eyes and Groda also just don't care. Groda maybe asks why Rana's voice sounds deeper once and nearly gets torn apart by Alex bc of it (Rana isn't offended or anything she just has a defensive girlfriend), bc she doesn't really understand because she never experienced anything like this first hand but very quickly comes to understand it and accept it. And on the other hand White Eyes is just like "I've seen weirder things than this" which yeah. Yeah honestly I think the person who was previously one with the undead would not care about gender in the grand scheme of things.

And then u have Kai which I've joked before that they may as well have been spawned in nonbinary. They rlly just said "I'm not really anything" and everyone was like yeah makes sense I vibe with it. Good for u.

Steve and Rana are both fairly open about having been the opposite genders previously (because that's how they view their experiences and that's valid!) and don't really shy away from the subject but also never really have much reason to talk about it since there's rarely a need to. In the modern day pretty much everyone who met them had met them post-transition. Even Alex had met them just before Steve started growing in his beard. The only people who ever knew them as Adam and Eve were Efe and Sunny but they never really thought it was weird or anything. Like the weirdest part to them was Steve saying he got his epiphany from seeing some guy in the distance on a foggy day who looked vaguely like him but that's its own subject manner that they aren't going to pry on.

Also Steve did DIY top "surgery" previously with a sword but we aren't going to talk about how messy that was for everyone involved.
